Good News

What’s so amazing about grace?

baptism_Grace is a word so commonly used, yet rare to be enacted or embodied even in the Christian church. What exactly is grace? Is it simply a state of elegance or a prayer before our meals? Grace is multifaceted and as such could in no way be fully expressed or defined in this simple paragraph, but it is of great importance to discuss, as it is essential to our faith. In our world, grace is counter-cultural; it does not come naturally to us. It is natural to draw lines in the sand when slighted, it is natural to want to rank sin or wrong doing, it is natural to want to stay mad, it is natural to want to retaliate instead of forgive… it’s all a part of our nature. But Jesus wants more for us, His creation, His church, His children… He wants to give us pardon, forgiveness, mercy, goodwill and favor! And in turn, He wants us to show grace to others. Through faith in Him, He gives us supernaturally what we need … to be counter cultural, to go against our very born nature. Grace is not clean; it is messy. It doesn’t follow a set of rules, guidelines or laws. It is undeserved. That’s what makes grace difficult, but also amazing and beautiful!

Grace is recklessly generous!

Grace is God giving you His best when you are at your worst. Grace is love coming at you that has nothing to do with what you do! You can’t talk about grace without talking about Jesus because Jesus is grace personified!

John 1:14 (NIV) The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Who is Jesus?

This question is likely the most important question any of us will ever have to answer. Was Jesus a good man, a great teacher, the dividing line for keeping track of years, or was He much more than that? We believe Jesus is so much more!

Jesus is Good News!

In a world built on pedaling bad news, good news is a rarity – and that’s what makes Jesus so special and His message so compelling! Jesus is Good News for a world in need and that news is the message of everything that God has done, is doing and will do for you. Jesus said that He came to offer us a rich and satisfying life!

John 10:10 (MSG) I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.

In His goodness, God set a rescue plan in motion from the beginning of time, long before you were born. Maybe you’ve seen or heard the infamous John 3:16 verse at a sporting event, on the street or in a church. This verse is a simple explanation of the Good News found in Jesus:

“For God loved the world so much that he gave His one and only Son [Jesus], so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.”

Your value in God’s eyes is so sky-high that He gave the best Heaven had to offer (Jesus) to purchase you and bring you back to Himself. Jesus came so that you could experience an abundant life, full of joy and peace. To know Jesus is to know this Good News, to know God’s love up close and personal, to know grace and to know hope!

Jesus is hope for today, not just for tomorrow!

God isn’t only interested in saving you in the “after-life,” He sent Jesus to save you in every-day life! While on Earth, Jesus did great and miraculous things for all the people He came in contact with. Jesus explained what He was sent to do when He read this scripture in the synagogue:

“The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the LORD’s favor has come.” (Luke 4:18-19 NLT)

Jesus brought hope to the hopeless, He befriended the friendless, He loved the loveless and He healed the helpless; and He’s still doing that today. Jesus spent time with thieves, tax collectors, prostitutes, and drunkards. Everywhere Jesus went crowds would gather because He healed every person that came to Him. Jesus broke down the walls that religion built and made a way for each of us to come to God, because God loved us that much.

Since each of us is imperfect, despite our best efforts and intentions, we simply cannot measure up to God’s standards. Jesus lived a perfect life on our behalf and what He accomplished on the cross is perfect and complete! When Jesus died on the cross, a divine exchange took place and Jesus received everything we deserved so that we could receive everything He secured for all who believe. All of our shortcomings, faults, imperfections and all the bad we deserved was placed on Jesus so that everyone who believes in Him receives His righteousness and all of the good that He is. Jesus took upon Himself all of God’s wrath, punishment, shame, and condemnation, so that we can truly experience all of God’s love, acceptance, joy, peace, and favor. This is the message of God’s Grace. This is the Good News!

Jesus is God’s answer and supply!

Jesus is God’s answer and supply for everything we need for everyday life and eternal life. If you need love, He will fill you. If you are weak, He will be your strength. If your needs are practical like finances or health, He will be your source. Jesus is God’s supply for our every need, and that supply is bigger and will outlast any problem we could ever have. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of who Jesus is and the Good News of His work for your life, but we’d like to invite you to join us in believing Jesus.
